A brain-based form of biofeedback is called Neurofeedback. Neurofeedback began trending in modern societies since early in the 1990’s.
Why? Portable devices with multiple electrodes provided this treatment option in community and outpatient settings.
How does it work? The electrodes make a ‘realtime’ study of unique neural clusters (or brain organelle) possible across different hemispheres or regions of the wired patient’s brain.
The text printed above might seem complicated, but you will discover if you attend our free seminar that NeurOptimal session wiring is simple and painless.
Why should you attend this seminar? Well, controversy abounds over the correct definition for disorders like the following: (i) Autism, (ii) ADHD, (iii) PTSD, (iv) Anxiety, and (v) Depression.
The seminar Dr Catherine Onuoha will present on March 14th, 2019 pushes media controversies aside and sets a distinct occasion to talk about symptom resolution—regardless of the causal root! Dr Catherine Onuoha will describe our powerful Neurofeedback technology. She will share data that reveals efficacy in a full array of psychiatric conditions. It is true that controversy in this field of psychiatric study will continue….but a mutual truth is that NeurOptimal sessions are available immediately to lessen any patient’s symptoms. Please come to the Natural Medicine Center on Thursday March 14th at 6:30 PM to learn how.
Natural Neurofeedback is a blog dedicated to the emerging practice of EEG (Electroencephalogram) neurofeedback therapy. Neurofeedback therapy is a relaxing and universally beneficial type of brain training that can both improve overall mental functioning and peak performance, as well as be used to treat a number of different psychological disorders and dysfunctions.
While not yet a widespread or common practice, neurofeedback has already shown to produce strong results in a variety of different settings through a wide number of different studies which I look forward to sharing on this site. But before I delve into the research and studies surrounding neurofeedback, I’d like to give a general introduction to how the process works.
What is Neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback is a relatively new type of therapy that uses real time brain scans to help better regulate the brain and improve its functioning. A healthy brain is based on well regulated and balanced levels of different brain waves such as Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, and Theta. By using simple non-invasive sensors, a clinician is able to see your live brain activity including these various types of brain waves. Many psychological disorders and dysfunctions can be traced to an imbalance in brain waves thus regulating these brain waves serves to treat the disorder or at least improve the symptoms. If your brain isn’t functioning at an optimal level, you may experience fatigue, insomnia, disinterest, brain fog or difficulty concentrating.
Although some forms of neurofeedback will put the clinician in control of guiding brain wave activity in different parts of the brain, Natural Neurofeedback believes the body is best able to assess and fix itself. Our neurofeedback system Neuroptimal presents your brain with the information it needs to correct itself. Our Neuroptimal system reads your brain activity while calming visuals and audio are played. Whenever the client’s brain activity becomes unstable or undesired, a brief skip in the audio tells the brain to change its functioning for better efficiency. This simple form of feedback allows the brain to learn how to control and improve its regulation of different brain waves. Essentially, the brain is able to see a reflection of itself as in a mirror and uses that information to fine tune its functions just as someone looking at themselves in a mirror is able to greater control their own facial expressions.
While this process may seem difficult or complex, the best part is that your brain does all the hard work for you. By merely being alert and engaged during sessions which lasts between 40 minutes and an hour your brain will unconsciously recognize it’s deficits and train itself to fix them. Client’s can expect to see significant and lasting difference after ten sessions. Usually treatments are once or twice a week. While nearly anyone can benefit from the increased mental sharpness and focus that comes from neurofeedback, this therapy is especially effective in treating a number of different disorders such as ADHD/ADD, Anxiety, Alzheimer’s, and Depression, Autism, Traumatic Brain Injury, Seizures, Stroke and more. Most importantly, neurofeedback is virtually risk free with no side effects and no chance of conflicting with any current medication or treatment plan.
As for men grappling with both anxiety and addiction, adventure therapy offers a refreshingly dynamic path to healing. Instead of sitting in a sterile room talking through struggles, participants are invited into nature—where challenge and unpredictability are part of the process. Rock climbing, hiking, and survival skills aren’t just outdoor activities; they become metaphors for resilience, emotional regulation, and rebuilding trust. These experiences provide real-time opportunities to confront fear, develop confidence, and build a brotherhood rooted in shared adversity. Within men’s addiction programs, this form of therapy is increasingly being recognized not as a luxury, but as a necessary intervention for those stuck in cycles of avoidance and self-doubt.
Anxiety thrives in isolation, in tight routines and sterile environments. But when the setting shifts to a rugged trail or a ropes course, something primal kicks in. Adventure therapy gives anxiety a new language to speak—one not rooted in overthinking, but in action. It encourages men to reconnect with their bodies and intuition, learning how to manage discomfort without resorting to substances. The unpredictability of nature mirrors the unpredictability of life, and in mastering one, they begin to master the other. It’s not just about surviving the outdoors—it’s about thriving in the face of fear.
Check back next week for more detailed information on some on how neurofeedback works and it’s many benefits.
“We are Polk County’s premier IV nutritional therapy specialists”
“IV nutritional therapy fosters a variety of health benefits such as increased energy, better immune functioning, and an enhanced sense of well-being”
For maximal health and vitality, nourishment must be ‘transported’ to all of the 100 trillion cells in an individual’s body. If key vitamins and minerals cannot access body tissues, cell regulatory processes become corrupted and the affected patient’s constitutional health soon declines.
When the body has trouble absorbing proteins, fatty acids, or minerals through natural digestive processes, IV Nutritional therapy critically preserves cellular health. A number of other circumstances can be cited as appropriate for IV nutrition therapy. Consider the nutritional demands precipitated by a chronic stress condition, or a sustained medical illness. To rebound from a sustained stress interval or serious illness, patients require extra nutrition. IV sustenance also assists people who suffer from a food intolerance. The IV services provided here at the Natural Medicine Center can also benefit patients with lowered nutrient absorption secondary to prescription drugs. Did you know that ‘Legend’ (i.e.,prescription) drugs can block a patient’s uptake and proper utilization of calcium, magnesium, zinc, selenium, vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, C, folic acid, glutathione, and biotin?
For all of the patient scenarios outlined above, consider embracing intravenous administration of nutrients to ensure that your body is getting what it needs.
Types of IV Nutrition Therapy
There are a number of IV therapies designed to either treat specific conditions or just promote overall wellness. The following are some of the most common:
Myers’ Cocktail
This particular blend was developed in the 1970’s by Dr. John Myers at Johns Hopkins University. It has been used to treat a number of conditions such as asthma, congestive heart failure, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, chest pain, infections, depression, muscle spasms, hives, and dementia.
Glutathione Therapy
This substance acts principally on liver and brain tissues. Research suggests glutathione therapy can lead patients to an improved memory, while also helping to lower the risk for dementia conditions, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, neuropathy, and liver disease.
High Dose Vitamin C Therapy
Although this vitamin is commonly found in supplement form, an IV infusion will produce much higher serum concentrations of Vitamin C than that obtained after oral dosing. Vitamin C is used to fight both fibromyalgia chronic fatigue syndrome. High dose injections of Vitamin C have also been found to boost the immune system and can help fight and prevent cancer.
For more on the specific benefits and science behind High Dose Vitamin C injections please watch the video below:
Hydrogen Peroxide
Chemists refer to Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) as a ‘reactive oxygen species’. H2O2 encourages the body to release single oxygen molecules into the bloodstream. Newly liberated O2 molecules are available to kill viruses, bacteria, cancer cells. A higher oxygen serum oxygen level also makes it easier for the liver and kidneys to remove toxins.
Or – if you are an athlete in need of faster healing and recovery then IV Vitamin Therapy may help to rejuvenate your body and help you to feel better again.

Candida Overgrowth can go undetected for a long time. Most people infected with candida are unaware of the yeast infection and they look very healthy on the outside. However when Candida population increases, it is able to penetrate the bloodstream through the walls of the intestines and cause a condition known as leaky gut syndrome.
Candida Overgrowth Symptoms Can Include:
Abdominal pain
Allergies
Anxiety
Autoimmune diseases like Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis and multiple sclerosis
Bloating and belching
Cognitive disorders like poor memory, concentration problems and brain fog
Constipation
Craving sugar and refined carbohydrates
Depression
Candida Overgrowth Yeast Infection
Diarrhea
Endometriosis
Fatigue
Flatulence or intestinal gas
Halitosis or bad breath
Impotence
Infertility
Insomnia
Irritability
Joint pains and swelling
Low libido
Muscle aches, weakness and paralysis
Mood swings
Rectal itching
Skin conditions like athlete’s foot, fungal nail infections, eczema, psoriasis, scleroderma and systemic lupus
Vaginal itching, burning and discharge
These symptoms are also associated with numerous other conditions which make diagnosing Candida infection quite challenging.
Factors which lead to an increase in the candida population include:
Eating a diet rich in processed foods
Drinking a lot of alcohol
Taking antibiotics that kill the good bacteria in the intestines
Once the candida penetrates into the bloodstream, it triggers a cascade of infectious symptoms. It enters the blood stream by penetrating the protective mucosa lining within the intestines and throughout our bodies.
What is Candida?
Candida is a type of yeast which normally lives in the intestines in small amounts and aids the digestive process.
Julia Koehler, a Harvard University estimated that candida was responsible for around 60% of the fungal infections acquired in hospitals and it resulted in the deaths of every 1 out 3 infected persons. She reported that the fungus was dangerous because of its ability to change from a minor infection into a severe infection when the person developed low immunity.
Studies by Rice University reveal that around 70% of all people are affected by Candida. Research published in the Journal of the German Society of Dermatology found that Candida albicans was the species responsible for between 50 to 90% of all the candida infections (1).
Tests for Candida Overgrowth Yeast Infection
Candida infection can be tested by a blood test. This test checks for levels of antibodies to candida known as IgA, IgG and IgM. A Comprehensive Stool Test can also show positive Candida even when blood testing is negitive since the blood only checks for antibodies and not the actual yeast. Further, a Urine Test that looks for the yeast waste product that is called D-arabinitol can determine the presence of Candida overgrowth if elevated results is positive.
Treatment of Candida Overgrowth Yeast Infection
Once the candida infection is confirmed and its severity assessed, the treatment of candida often includes a comprehensive plan that can include the following:
Eliminating simple sugars like candy, deserts, chocolates, alcohol and flour from the diet since this fungi feeds on them.
Reducing the intake of complex carbohydrates like whole grains, beans, fruit, pasta and potatoes to further reduce the population of candida in the intestines.
Taking caprylic acid supplements which are obtained from coconut oil as it helps kill the yeast cells.
Taking probiotics to increase the concentration of the good bacteria in the gut and keep the candida in check.
You may read some herbalist recommending Oregano Oil. We do no recommend this as it kills all yeast, even the good ones you need.
Be proactive in your health. Heal your gut. Eat whole raw vegetables to your heart’s desire. Introduce foods known to fight Candia. Alkaline your diet.
Anxiety and Depression are symptoms we often shy away from talking about. We shouldn’t! There is nothing to be embarrassed about. Natural Medicine Center cares for thousands of individuals every year and many of our clients struggle with these symptoms. You are not alone. We can help.
Most people feel anxious or depressed at times. Life situations such as losing a loved one, getting fired from a job, going through a divorce, and other difficult situations can lead a person to feel sad, lonely, scared, nervous, or anxious. These feelings are normal reactions to life’s stressors.
Some people experience these feelings daily or nearly daily for no apparent reason, making it difficult to carry on with normal, everyday functioning. These people may have an anxiety disorder, depression, or both.
It is not uncommon for someone with an anxiety disorder to also suffer from depression or vice versa. Nearly one-half of those diagnosed with depression are also diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. The good news is that these disorders are both treatable, separately and together.
For some, restoring their mood is as simple as eliminating the physical pain that is frustrating the individual. This is something we specialize in this at the Natural Medicine Center of Lakeland (NMC). For others who struggle with clinical depression, anxiety or compulsive disorders, the challenge may be greater to treat. Rest assured that NMC is eager to help you overcome these challenges through:

Thermography
Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging is a unique technology that takes a picture and creates a map of the infrared patterns of the body. It is different than other screening tools because it helps us to see function (physiology).
Growing numbers have sought out acupuncturists for chronic health problems — when conventional medicine either hasn't worked nor has answers. An estimated 12 million American adults have used acupuncture.
Relieves pain and tension created by strained and contracted muscles. Reduces chronic stress and tension. Increases flexibility in joints, aiding in easier mobility and movement
Natural Medicine Acknowledges that You are Unique.
Unlike many health models, the model for Natural Medicine sometimes referred to as Alternative Medicine is one of individualization. No two people are alike, so just because two people suffer from headaches, the natural homeopathic remedies provided for them may be completely different. Each person has a different lifestyle, diet, environment and other contributing factors that require a personally unique approach.
Some general benefits to natural homeopathy are:
It can be used by pregnant and nursing women
It does not interfere with medications taken by a person
If an incorrect remedy is selected, it is completely safe and will not harm the person at all
There are no or mild short lived side-effects of homeopathic remedies
It can be used for chronic or acute conditions
It is an individualized system of medicine which treats the person, not merely the symptoms
Homeopathy is a holistic approach to healing: one that involves the body, mind, emotions, and spirit of the person being treated
Homeopathic medicine is non-invasive
There are many studies proving the effectiveness of homeopathy, when used correctly
61% of patients look unfavorably on the brands they depend on for their medications (Patient View, 2015)
9 in 10 Americans believe pharmaceutical and drug companies are generally dishonest (Harris Interactive, 2013)
Only 23% of people claim to have confidence in the US healthcare system (Gallup, 2014)
Percent of persons 12 years of age and older with depression in any 2-week period: 7.6% (CDC Depression in Households 2009-2012)

When I was looking for a more natural clinic and I found Natural medicine Center I had no idea how much it would change our lives. My husband, myself, and children are seen here for various reasons.
My daughter, who has some significant mental health problems, has been treated here and is doing better now than she has in years.
It's nice to have a facility where the practioner is so knowledgeable in the way the human body works and can help you overcome various issues.
When you're in an appointment with Dr. Catherine you don't feel rushed, or like you're just a number. There is real care and concern.
When I say I don't know what my family would do without this clinic would be a huge understatement.
I can't recommend them highly enough!

Catherine Onuoha is NOT a doctor. She is a pharmacist with a PhD. She purports to be an expert in many different fields and treats conditions that are far outside her area of expertise. She has tried to treat me for mental health issues while also treating family members for cancer and epilepsy. Clearly these are different areas of expertise and require experts (I.e. real doctors) in each area. She severely misdiagnosed my problems which led to them worsening. Do not trust this practice with your health.

On 9/6/2020 I took my wife to the Natural Medicine Center for an alternative to mammograms. Mammograms are useless for my wife due to breast density. My wife decided on the Thermal imaging. She was very pleased with the results.
After my wife’s consultation was over Dr. Catherine asked me if I had any health concerns. I explained to her that I had pre-Diabetes, High Cholesterol, and extremely low vitamin D levels, 17 to be exact. I had also been lethargic and severe muscle pain. Dr. Catherine told me that she could help that immediately with a shot. I received a shot that day. Within 4 hours I felt way better. I have continued to receive weekly shots of Vitamin D since 9/6/2020.
My health has greatly improved, all the muscle pain is gone. I believe that Dr. Catherine saved my life.
